Efficient enforcement with Scanauto and Software from Brickyard in the municipality of Beverwijk

Beverwijk is a city with a rich history and is known for, among other things, the largest covered market in Europe, the Bazaar. The city offers various parking facilities, including more than 2,000 parking spaces in the center and several parking lots around the Bazaar.
Until recently, parking checks were carried out manually, with inspectors physically walking through the city to detect and fine parkers without parking rights. In order to enforce more efficiently in the parking zones Beverwijk Centrum, Theater sector and Bazaar sector, the municipality looked for a solution.
To take on this challenge, the municipality of Beverwijk has decided to start a pilot project with the use of a scanning car, equipped with advanced software from Brickyard.

The Scan car
The scan car is specially designed to scan large quantities of license plates quickly and efficiently. The vehicle is equipped with special cameras that use ANPR technology (Automatic Number Plate Recognition). This technology automatically detects and reads vehicle license plates as the scan car drives through the streets.
After the license plates have been read, the data is forwarded to Brickyard’s enforcement software. Here the license plates are compared and enriched with information from different databases. It is checked whether the vehicle has a valid parking right and what type of vehicle it is. Based on this data, a decision can be made quickly and efficiently about further processing and follow-up of the scanned license plates.

After successful test period, now fully operational
Since June 25, the Municipality of Beverwijk has officially used the scan car for parking enforcement in the center. After a successful test period, during which no fines were imposed, the Scan car is now fully operational. The car is equipped with ARVOO’s advanced ScanGenius technology. This technology is supported by Brickyard’s intuitive back office and enforcement software. This collaboration is made possible by our client P1.
